The pick-up and drop off point for our Duck Tours is at the Duck Stop, which is centrally located next to Windsor Castle and opposite the front entrance of the Theatre Royal (32 Thames St, Windsor SL4 1PS).
-

Please check our About Us page for detailed info on travel links.
-
Short answer… no. Our entrance to the water does not cause any water to enter the vessel. Furthermore, we have roll down windows which will we try to keep open as much as possible. If the rain does start to come down we take a majority vote from our passengers on having the side windows rolled up or down.
-
Dress for the weather conditions for the day and you can’t go far wrong. It can get cool on the water part of the tour so a jumper is a good idea if you feel the cold.
-
We do everything we can to take pushchairs and so far have not failed to get them onboard. There is always a chance that many customers all turn up for the same tour all with pushchairs, therefore we cannot guarantee this service.
-
We think everyone, both young and old will get something out of the tour. Its got facts and jokes on the way round, It’s close to an open top bus ride, It’s a river cruise plus you get the fun of the vehicle changing with a ‘splash’ from road mode to boat mode. If in doubt – check our reviews on Trip Advisor!
-
Due to the nature of the vehicle all passengers must be able to climb the 5 steps to board.
-
Very Well-behaved dogs can come on a tour at the discretion of the skipper.
-
It is extremely unlikely tours will be cancelled due to the day adverse weather conditions. On rare occasions when the river goes into flood we stop running due to the high flow on the river. Please check our booking page for more info.
-
We use purpose-built vehicles to carry passengers on our tours. Our oldest vehicle was registered in 2010.
Other operators use converted 1940 WW2 vehicles designed to carry military personnel and their kit and then converted to carry passengers. They are now 80 years old. We do not use these!
-
Short answer, yes. We use a newly built 2010 amphibious passenger vessel. Other machines which have had problems in the past are actually from World War II in the 1940s! Passenger safety is too important for us to use an old WWII vehicle. Please check out our “Safety First” page for more detailed information.
-
All our vehicles have to meet the (MCA) Maritime and Coast Guard Regulations when on the water and have a passenger certificate. On the road, they are governed by VOSA, just like a Bus.
-
On the road, our driver/skipper needs a Bus/Coach license Cat- D. On the water our skipper needs a Boatman’s License issued by the MCA.
This license involves a high degree of skill to pass and includes a 3-day Fire Fighting Course, First Aid, Sea Survival, and Medical.

All of our tours have a live guide to make the tour fun as well as giving you a few facts and figures on the way round (we reserve the right to make up answers to anything we don’t know about!).
-
Both tours have road & river sections, however the “River Splash Tour” has a shorter road section and a long water section to allow for more time on the water. Both are equally as fantastic as each other, the option is there to suit your preference.
-
We run up to 8 tours in the height of the season. Please check our booking page for the tours running on each day.
In the offseason, we tend to run 2 or 3 hours per day.
-
We run a circular tour around the outside of the Castles private grounds. You will be sitting up high so you get good views over hedges a bit like an open-top bus ride but not quite as high. You will see various landmarks of Windsor both from the road and the river.
-
We do not allow food on board. Non-alcoholic beverages are allowed. Water can be purchased on board for £1 – subject to availability.
-
Our vehicle brushes off rain like water off a duck back! We have full rain protection for those damp days. Our tours will be canceled in very extreme weather.
